The respect for innovation means they are always on the lookout for new ways to be more efficient in their operations and recently led them to completely review all of their on premise laundries once they heard about the potential benefits of using ozone in the washing processes.

Anita Straus, Property Manager as Huis Luckhoff, requested a demonstration of OTEK at her facility in 2014 and was the first centre in the group to see the benefits of OTEK.

Anita was pleasantly surprised by how much better the laundry process performed with OTEK when compared with the traditional hot water process, “the results were truly impressive; so much so that I will and have recommended this to many of the homes in our group, Residential Aged Care sites, Disability Centres and Children’s homes across the group are now running their laundries with OTEK and enjoying the many benefits. The savings on utility costs and increased productivity have made a big difference to our bottom line, and at a time when margins are being squeezed and costs have to be managed tightly, this is more than welcome.”

With their Residential Aged Care Services experiencing rapid growth it has been even more important to manage and reduce costs and to look for ways to be more efficient.

Installing the OTEK laundry system has not only delivered cost savings on energy bills but also means with decreased wash time, their existing laundries can handle more washes to cope with the growth. Reduced wash time coupled with a lower chemical dosage also means extended linen life therefore reducing linen replacement costs which is a big expense. Another benefit is that the linen has remained soft and fluffy even after fabric softer was removed providing a further saving.

The increased productivity has freed up the laundry staff enabling the management of the Badisa homes to train and reskill the staff to assist in other areas of the homes.

Sanet Viljoen, manager of Huis Mosterthoek in the Western Cape was amazed by the OTEK’s ability to reduce the time is takes to complete washing as it allowed the laundry lady’s to be allocated to other areas of the home. This came at a time when the housekeeping manager needed another staff member. This meant that Sanet could save the money and direct these funds to some much needed property upgrades. “I was so happy when I was told that the laundry was done by lunch time every day during the free two-week demonstration Ozone Technologies offered Huis Mosterthoek. I can still not believe that we managed to save an additional R6’500.00 on a salary over and above the other water and energy savings. It was not difficult convincing our board to bring OTEK on board permanently.”

Any Concerns that the Badisa homes had with the transition of their laundries to the cold water sustainable wash programs of OTEK were laid to rest by the attention to detail and back-up service of Ozone Technologies.
